Solar & Moon Astronomy Filters

Eclipse-safe solar attenuation and lunar/planetary contrast filters — the astronomy accessory line made on the same coating benches as our sensing glass.

Half-moon through a contrast filter in a 1.25-inch format — the accessory-drawer hero shot.

Solar Safety Is the Spec

A solar filter has one job: drop the sun's full aperture load by five orders of magnitude or more while leaving a usable visible image. We produce certified solar film (aluminized PET, OD5 visible with IR rejection) for full-aperture front-mounted cells — telescope, binocular and finder formats — plus coated glass solar filters for eyepiece and smaller-aperture use. Solar film sheets are supplied as raw stock, die-cut blanks or finished front cells under your brand.

Eclipse season is the demand spike: the production slot conversation happens months before the event, not when the order arrives. OEM brands buying eclipse run stock plan with us a full season ahead.

Moon and Deep-Sky Contrast

Moon and light-pollution filters (polarizing variable and yellow contrast types) improve lunar and planetary contrast for visual-backyard kits; bandpass nebula designs (UHC and dual-band families) sit in the same line as our sensing bandpasses because they are the same physics, specified against emission lines instead of LED chips. Astronomy brands bundle these as the accessory drawer of a beginner or step-up kit.

Threading is universal 1.25 in and 2 in formats — the astronomy world's one stable standard — with filter wheels and nosepieces sourced to match kit BOMs.

Bundling Into Instrument Kits

These filters arrive as retail-ready accessory sets for the Hemusun telescope line and for buyer brands: diagonal, eyepieces, moon filter and solar cell packed as one shelf SKU. Set composition, blister versus box versus tin, and the legal safety wording on solar packaging (never reuse a solar safety claim across grades) are handled at order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is solar film safer than coated glass?

Both lanes are produced to OD5-class solar safety with IR rejection; format decides. Film is light and cheap for full-aperture cells; glass suits small apertures and eyepiece-side duty. Safety wording per format is non-negotiable.

Eclipse-season lead time?

Film stock is quick; finished branded cells follow packaging lead. Plan eclipse runs with the season before — production slots are the constraint.

Can you private-label a beginner accessory set?

Yes — moon filter, polarizer, UHC and solar cell in your blister with your part numbers is the standard astronomy accessory program.

Do these fit our diagonal and focuser?

1.25 and 2 inch universal formats plus threaded cell sizes — send the kit BOM and we match threads and heights.
